Hint is a term that refers to a graphic technique which is utilized to allow better printing quality at smaller sizes and on low resolution imaging devices.
Fonts are hinted so that they print better in the smaller size ranges.
Hinting in this case has been incorporated into these recycle logos so that they will print better on your output device. I’ve seen so many recycle logos on the networks, they’re all different, and they all have slight variations from very bad auto-traced versions to fairly good reproductions. These should be the optimum ones to use.
These have been created, vectored from scratch working over a 2300% enlargement of a photostatic reproduction of the original. I can’t think of a better model to utilize in the vectoring process, unless of course, it’s a film master - which we didn’t have access to.
